The most important conversation of our time. This is how author, Max Tegmark, describes the immediate and vital discussion about the future of artificial intelligence (AI). Not only by experts in the field, but rather as a collective conversation. He writes this book to underline each individuals responsibility to take an active role in creating the future we want. Tegmark, an MIT physicist, co-founder and president of the Future of Life Institute, and author of Our Mathematical Universe (2014), wants to generate public interest and a mainstream discussion about the advance of AI and the need for developing safety measures. He is confident that artificial intelligence will influence politics, economies, job markets and the personal lives of billions. Therefore, it is crucial that we understand the concepts and take them into account when creating long term plans.
The book Cyberpsychology and New Media: a thematic reader is the result of a joint work of an academic team from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) in Dublin, Ireland. This follows the IADTs launch of an MSc graduate program in Cyberpsychology back in 2005, at that point a relatively new field within applied psychology which combines studies of human behaviors, communication and interactions with the application of new technologies. After several years of teaching the MSc program, IADT’s professors, in cooperation with graduates, presents the best of their pioneering work.
